ICYMI: Charter School Students Barred From Graduation After Video Showing Drinking, Insulting Student
After a video surfaced of students chanting defamatory epithets about a fellow student, and drinking, they were banned from graduation.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—A number of students, mostly seniors, won't be allowed to attend this weekend's graduation from the Advanced Math & Science Academy charter school after officials were shown a video of a house party.
The video showed students drinking and chanting "seriously insulting and defamatory epithets directed at a fellow student of the senior class," according to a letter that was sent to parents, reports the MetroWest Daily News.
Joseph R. McCleary, AMSA's director, wrote in the letter that the party occurred at the home of the parent of an AMSA student, and that officials studied the video to identify a number of students involved; most of them are seniors.

"As the leader of our school, I find these actions to be seriously wrong and very much beneath the behavioral expectations we hold for all our students," McCleary wrote, who added that the student who was targeted had been "gravely affected."
It was not indicated how many students are being barred from graduation.
