COCHRAN WRENN DUO RECEIVES MARLBOROUGH CULTURAL COUNCIL GRANT IN SUPPORT OF InCONCERT
Local flute & guitar duo wins grant to support collaboration with school music program & will launch project at a concert May 7 in Westboro

The Cochran Wrenn Duo has been selected to receive an Marlborough Cultural Council Grant. The grant will help support InConcert, an exciting new music education initiative with the Cochran Wrenn Duo and the Marlborough Public Schools Music Program from May 2017-May 2018. The Cochran Wrenn Duo was one of 15 organizations selected for this award.
InConcert is an innovative collaboration between professional musicians, an early career composer, a public-school music program, and a community to provide a rich, intensive musical experience and increase engagement with the arts. The core of InConcert is the commissioning of a new flute and guitar composition to be performed by the Cochran Wrenn Duo with the Marlborough High School Wind Ensemble. Members of the MHS Wind Ensemble will have input into the creation of the composition and will be able to follow the evolution of the piece from concept to performance through a multimedia blog and discussions with the Cochran Wrenn Duo and composer. It will be an active and engaging, in-depth look into the creative process of composing a piece of music and bringing it to life through performance alongside professional musicians.
Alongside the creation of this composition, the Cochran Wrenn Duo will also be working with other students in the school system and performing concerts in the Marlborough community. Community members can follow the progress of this project at www.cochranwrennduo.com/blog
