Marlborough Coronavirus Case Growth Has Slowed In Recent Weeks
The week-over-week increase in coronavirus cases in Marlborough has been trending down since late April, data show.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Data on coronavirus infections in Marlborough appear to show that the pandemic may be starting to slow down.
On Tuesday, city officials reported that the pandemic total number of cases had grown to 794, which is a more than 16 percent increase over last Tuesday. That's much slower week-over-week growth dating back to mid-April.
Meanwhile, active cases in Marlborough had been on a steady decline since a peak of 285 on May 10. Active cases were down to 256 on Tuesday, a rise from the 248 active cases measured on May 17 — that was the lowest number of active cases dating back to May 3.

- May 12, 683 cases — 20.8 percent increase over May 5
- May 5, 565 cases — 39.1 percent increase over April 28

Coronavirus deaths in Marlborough continued to tick up on Tuesday. The pandemic total hit 35 deaths on Tuesday, according to health officials.
The pandemic is still very active in Massachusetts, but health officials are seeing positive signs in case data. On Tuesday, the state reported a total of 87,925 cases and 5,938 deaths. But hospitalizations had declined 29 percent since May 1. The positive test rate dropped to 9.9 percent, down from the 16.6 percent average on May 1.
