Coronavirus In Marlborough: City Identifies Presumed Case

Mayor Arthur Vigeant announced the case Wednesday, hours after the new coronavirus was declared a global pandemic.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough is the latest city in the area to diagnose a case of the new coronavirus, COVID-19. Mayor Arthur Vigeant made the announcement in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Marlborough Health Director John Garside also said during the press conference that city buildings begin to be cleaned more thoroughly. City officials found out Tuesday night about the presumed positive case.

City officials emphasized that the person has not had contact with anyone at Marlborough Public Schools.

The number of presumed COVID-19 cases has skyrocketed in recent days. From Monday to Wednesday, the number of cases jumped from 41 to 95. Forty-four of those cases were in Middlesex County alone.

Framingham, Natick, Sudbury, and Wayland have all reported presumed infections. Wayland and Framingham closed schools on Wednesday as a precaution.
