Coronavirus: Solomon Pond, Auburn Malls To Close
Simon Malls, which owns 12 shopping centers in Massachusetts, will close all properties by the end of the day Wednesday.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — One of the largest mall companies in the U.S. said Wednesday that it will close all of its shopping centers by the end of the day, and won't reopen them until at least March 29.
Simon Malls owns 12 shopping centers in Massachusetts, including Solomon Pond, the Auburn Mall, Chestnut Hill, and Copley Place.
"The health and safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees is of paramount importance, and we are taking this step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," Simon CEO David Simon said in a news release.

Many national retailers had already made the choice to close stores in malls. At the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough on Tuesday, stores like Hollister, Express, and Victoria's Secret were already temporarily closed.
