Developers have plans for a car wash for the new Apex Center on Route 20.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—Would a new car wash affect negatively Marlborough's sewer treatment plant?

City councilors on Monday at a public hearing asked the developers who want to build one at the new Apex Center of New England on Route 20 in Marlborough, reports the MetroWest Daily News. The construction of the car wash is allowed by a special permit with the overlay district permit given for the Apex Center.

The 2,470 square foot car wash would be located next to a Chick-Fil-A restaurant, and would be open 24 hours, said MetroWest Daily News, which reported that closed drainage would stop water from the car wash from mixing with storm runoff. Still, several wondered if the city even needed another car wash.

Ryan Development owns ten Primrose Car Washes across New Hampshire and Massachusetts, including in Pepperell, Westborough and Worcester.
