Decision About Tuesday School in Marlborough
Many are voicing disappointment with the district's decision.
Marlborough Public Schools released the following message: “As of this evening, we have no plans to delay or close school for Tuesday. We will reevaluate the conditions of the roads and sidewalks early Tuesday morning in collaboration with city officials and public works staff.”
Posted on the public schools Facebook page, the announcement was met, quickly, with nearly 30 comments, most in disagreement with the decision, urging the district to make a decision on Monday evening.
“What will change between now and tomorrow???” writes Capucho B Flavia. “Makes no sense. It wasn’t safe earlier and it won’t be within hours.”

Mirna Feliciano-Alvaraz responded, “No one wants to go to school till the end of June but the kids safety SHOULD come first. The roads ARE BAD! It is not safe out there, the snow banks are too high at the bus stops! Ridiculous!”
John P. Thornton said, “I don’t care if they call it off or not my two girls are not going to school when they can’t wait on the sidewalk and wait for the bus.”

“Parents really need time to plan for sitters etc and high schoolers will have to get up at 5am to shovel out of their houses, among other issues,” commented Rebecca Daugherty. “ I think it is poor planning for the wait and see method. A delay would be best for now and then an evaluation. There was no hesitation yesterday when the Super Bowl was on.”
