MARLBOROUGH, MA — A former Marlborough fire chief was charged with arson in connection with a 42-acre brush fire in Old Orchard Beach, ME, where he is now the fire chief.
Ricky Plummer, 59, was arrested early Saturday morning at his mother-in-law's house in Scarborough, reports ABC WMTV-8 News.
Plummer was placed on administrative leave until further notice, said Town Manager Larry Mead in a statement. The fire occurred on April 15 at Jones Creek Marsh, and required the work of 100 firefighters to combat it. The area had been under a red flag warning that day due to high winds and dry air.
