MARLBOROUGH, MA — A new, free public transit service began operating in Hudson and Marlborough over the weekend.

The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority Catch Connect service provides on-demand transportation rather than at fixed bus stops. The service is now available in Hudson, along Route 85 and downtown Marlborough, according to the transit agency.

The Catch Connect service works similar to rideshare services like Uber and Lyft: riders use an app to select a pickup time, location and destination. Once set, a van arrives at the pickup location at the appointed time. The service is free right now, and users will get a $2 credit at signup to use for future rides.

To book a trip, you can download the MWRTA Catch app on your smartphone, or call (508) 283-5083. You can see a map of the service area here.
