Here Are The Businesses Marlborough Residents Want In The City

Three words: Indoor farmer's market.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough has a healthy business community but there is always room to grow. Patch wanted to know what kinds of new businesses residents would like to see in the city and Marlborough residents flooded the Facebook post comments with ideas and share some more on Marlborough Patch's Neighbor Post.

It's hard to list all of the businesses residents want to see come to the city (there were over 120 comments with suggestions) but here are some of the most popular answers:

Entertainment

Marlborough residents don't have to go too far for entertainment in the city, especially with the Apex center being a one stop shot for everyone's night out, but residents had a few suggestions for what could help keep the good times rolling. The ideas included an outdoor pool and a community space, like an auditorium, to put on shows and events.

Shopping

Marlborough residents rattled off small businesses that could benefit the city including kitchenware stores, boutique clothing stores and kids book stores. Some franchise names were suggested in the city as well, including a Trader Joe's, Hobby Lobby and a CVS or Walgreens, particularly on the west side of the city.

Restaurants

When it comes to food, Marlborough residents were very vocal about bringing an indoor farmer's market to the city. Many of the ideas included restaurants within the farmer's market and specific calls fro a juice bar, a lot like Boston Public Market.

The majority of responses also detailed some sort of healthy restaurant options, whether it be juice and smoothie bars, vegan restaurants or farm-to-table focused restaurants. There was also plenty of support for an Italian bakery and a bagel and coffee shop.
