How To Recycle Mattresses, Box Springs In Marlborough
Marlborough residents can now recycle mattresses and box springs under a new DPW program.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — It just got a lot more environmentally friendly to dispose of one of the hardest household items to get rid of.
This week, the Marlborough Department of Public Works began offering mattress and box spring recycling services. Under the old system, those bulky items would just get thrown away.
The new recycling service operates similarly to the old one: residents get two free mattress/box spring pickups per year, and the items can be left at the curb. The only difference is that residents now call DPW instead of Republic Services. If, for some reason, you're throwing away more than two mattresses per year, you can pay DPW $25 for subsequent pickups.

Mattress and box spring pickups will happen bimonthly on Thursdays. To dispose of an item, call the DPW (508) 624-6910. Residents can place the items at the curb the night before pickup, according to DPW.
Marlborough also offers curbside pickup of other bulks items like appliances and carpets. See the DPW website for more details.
