We Make a Difference

Boxer rescue has changed me.  It's given me a strength that I didn't know was inside me.  It brings me joy and happiness, but I still cry for those we've lost.  My heart feels love for perfect strangers, but harbors hatred toward those who have done harm. I've had to learn to withhold judgement and do what is best for a dog who needs help.  Boxer rescue has made me a better person.

I volunteer my time with a local New England rescue called The Boxer Rescue.   We were started by two amazing women, Kelly Taylor and Lisa Barker.  They have a love for the breed and saw that many of these dogs were in need of homes, so they took action.  This rescue is not just a part time gig.  It is a part of who we are.  We all have jobs and families and pets of our own, but we make time for the boxers who need our help.  We take time to educate the public about the breed.  We spend countless hours on the phone and on our computers.  We, along with our volunteer base, drive hours in a million different directions around New England, evaluating boxers and then transporting them from one home to another.  This is the life of a rescue person and I'm okay with it because it means that we've made a difference.
