Immersive Art Exhibition Heads To Marlborough Public Library

MARLBOROUGH, MA — An immersive exhibition combining photography, poetry, sound and meditation is on a journey through Central Massachusetts.

“Power of the Practice,” created by Worcester-based artists Margie Breault and Mickey Lee Voas, is moving to the Marlborough Public Library following an exhibition at Worcester’s Jean McDonough Arts Center.

A public reception will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the library.

The exhibition centers on photographic portraits Voas took before and after participants underwent what the artists describe as a “bioscalar energy activation” facilitated by Breault. Breault then created poems using the participants’ accounts of their memories, sensations and emotions during the experience.

A recorded meditation, sound and other reflective elements accompany the portraits and poems. The artists said the installation is intended to explore how personal transformation may become visible through facial expressions, posture and other subtle changes.

The reception will include a live poetry reading beginning at 5:30 p.m. accompanied by sound. Visitors can also explore the exhibition and listen to its recorded meditation.
