Kristallnacht & the Legacy of the Leica Freedom Train
All are welcome to hear this story of courage and survival

You may know of Schindler’s List, but that wasn’t the only instance of a German business leader with the courage to save lives during the Holocaust.
Come hear the incredible true story of how the family of Worcester resident Bruce M. Wahle was saved by the vision and courage of Ernst Leitz II and his daughter Elsie Kuhn-Leitz, owners of the Leica Camera Company, who risked their own lives to save the lives of others as the gates of Nazi Germany were slamming shut. The “Leica Freedom Train” saved an estimated 300+ Jews after the infamous events of Kristallnacht - the Night of Broken Glass - when Jewish homes, businesses, hospitals, synagogues, and schools were destroyed by Nazi rioters and 30,000 Jewish men were arrested on November 9, 1938.
Join Wahle and the congregation of Temple Emanuel of Marlborough for a special evening of remembrance on Saturday, November 9 at 7:00 pm at Temple Emanuel, 150 Berlin Road, Marlborough. For more information about this free event, please email info@templeemanuelma.org.
