Lightning Strike Leads To Marlborough Basement Fire

Lighting from the storms that shook the area caused a fire on the basement of a South street home.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The basement of a South Main Street home in Marlborough caught fire on Saturday night after the home was struck by lightning. Scattered showers and storms rocked the area on Saturday night, bringing gusting winds, thunder and lightning.

Fire officials said the blaze was put out quickly and contained to the basement, according to CBS Boston. The house was home to a family of five, all of which made it out safely. But the home was temporarily uninhabitable and the family had to find another place tot stay for the weekend.

The family told CBS they were inside when the lightning hit and felt the jolt. No one was injured.
