“Chief Gogan brings a deep understanding of our community and a strong record of leadership. As a lifelong Marlborough resident, he is widely respected for his professionalism and commitment to preparedness and safety,” said Mayor Dumais. “In just a short time, his leadership has already strengthened the sense of partnership and pride within the department and across the city leadership.”

When taking the stage, Chief Gogan thanked his family, the mayor, and the city council for their support.

“I’m truly honored to have been selected for this position and I look forward to continue to deliver the best possible services to the residents of the city of Marlborough," Chief Gogan said.

He acknowledged Marlborough's former fire chief, Kevin Breen, who retired in January after more than 10 years as chief. He said the department is set up for a successful succession because of his work.

“As fire chief, my priorities will be to continue to advocate for increased staffing, build and occupy the west side fire station, continue with improvements and training and officer development, and provide continued investment in firefighter safety, mental health, and cancer prevention.”

Chief Gogan added that he is committed to acknowledging the good work the department does every day, including ceremonies like this.

"We have a lot to accomplish in the immediate future, and I look forward to seeing all of the results of our efforts," he said.
