The Ghost Light Players of MetroWest are gearing up to present five performances of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” beginning next week.
“Shakespeare’s ’Macbeth’ is one of his darkest and most interesting pieces,” says the show’s director Kat Alix-Gaudreau. “It examines the consequences of overriding ambition and guilt, as well as the unraveling bonds of friendship and marriage.” Alix-Gaudreau’s near-future adaptation of the classic features inventive set design, costuming and fight choreography, all of which serve to make it a must-see.

This story of ambition spun out of control will be presented to the public free of charge. In lieu of admission, donations of food for the Marlborough Community Cupboard will be collected at the door. This is the third time Ghost Light Players –a nonprofit itself – has used a performance of Shakespeare as an opportunity to give back to the community. The group’s previous two productions of Shakespeare (“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Much Ado About Nothing”) yielded combined food donations totaling over 1,000 pounds. The company is hopeful its patrons will continue to give generously for “Macbeth.”
Performances will take place October 24–25 and Nov 1 at 8:00 p.m., October 26 and Nov 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Marlborough, 37 High St. Marlborough, MA, 01752.
