Man Used Umbrella Stand To Smash Marlborough Home: Police

The 22-year-old was arrested and charged over the weekend after breaking into an East Main Street home, police said.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A 22-year-old Marlborough man was arrested and charged over the weekend after breaking into a woman's home using a cast iron umbrella stand, according to police.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Friday at a 78 East Main St. when the man used the umbrella stand to break windows in an attempt to enter the property. The umbrella stand almost hit the woman inside the home, police said.

The woman called police, and gave them a key descriptor: the man had pink hair. Police found him near the East Main Street home and arrested him after a struggle. Police said the man was likely intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The Robin Hood Road resident was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault, resisting arrest and vandalizing property.
