Marlborough Active Coronavirus Case Count Falls

Marlborough's latest case update shows a recent downward trend in active infections.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The number of active coronavirus cases in Marlborough dropped to 16 on Wednesday, although the city was still classified as a "yellow" community by state health officials, indicating a slightly high level of cases locally.

Marlborough active cases reached into the high 30s at the beginning of August, right around the time the Stop the Spread free testing initiative came to the city. Active cases dropped to a month low of 15 of Aug. 21, but then rose back to 20 in the following days.

The average daily incidence of coronavirus in Marlborough was 5.6 per 100,000 people as of Sept. 2, according to the state Department of Public Health. That's about the same as communities like New Bedford, Malden and Foxborough.

The number of coronavirus deaths in Marlborough remained at 66 as of Sept. 2, which is where it's been since Aug. 3.
