Marlborough Community Remembers Retired Police Lt. Edward Medeiros
The community is remembering a beloved former Marlborough police lieutenant who dedicated more than three decades of service to the city.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The community is remembering a beloved former Marlborough police lieutenant who dedicated more than three decades of service to the city.
Edward Medeiros, a distinguished former police officer and military veteran, has died.
Medeiros served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army before joining the Marlborough Police Department as a reserve officer in 1953. During his career, he was promoted to sergeant in January 1964 and lieutenant in September 1967.

After more than 30 years with the department, Medeiros retired in January 1984.
"Even in retirement, he remained a familiar and welcome presence at the police station, often stopping by to pick up his union stickers and to remind the younger officers, with a smile, that he had been retired longer than he had worked for the department," the Marlborough Police Department wrote.

He is being remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and genuine appreciation for the police profession.
"Lt. Medeiros will be remembered not only for his decades of service to our community, but also for the friendships he built and the legacy he leaves behind," the Marlborough Police Department wrote.
Details about memorial services have not yet been shared.
