Marlborough Company Helping People Walk Again

WBUR recently featured Marlborough company ReWalk, which has come up with technology to help paraplegics walk again.

ReWalk Robotics has built a motorized exoskeleton that is giving those with spinal cord injuries a chance to walk again. In June, this device got approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

ReWalk Marlborough is the U.S. headquarters of an Israeli-based company, Argo Medical Technologies. In this report, an Army veteran who has been confined to a wheelchair demonstrates the device. He fell from a ladder while working on a house, and has been unable to walk ever since. Now, he can get on his feet - as he took part in ReWalk’s clinical study of an exoskeleton that includes leg braces, motors, Velcro and remote control, said WBUR.

According to sci-info-pages, at least 250,000 Americans suffer from a spinal cord injury.
