Marlborough Company Ordered To Stop Selling Pelvic Mesh

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough's Boston Scientific was one of two businesses ordered to stop selling a type of surgical mesh used to repair pelvic conditions in women. U.S. health regulators announced the halt on Tuesday. Boston Scientific and Denmark based company, Coloplast were the only two companies still making the product.

According to the Milford Daily News, the halt in sales comes after years of patient reports of injuries. Some cases were reported where the mesh can shift out of place, puncturing internal organs or the abdomen wall, the paper reported. In 2016 the FDA reclassified the mesh as 'high risk'.
