Marlborough Delays Property Tax Bills Due To Coronavirus
Mayor Arthur Vigeant said the city is trying to help residents struggling during the coronavirus crisis.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough residents will get an additional month to pay property taxes, city officials announced on Tuesday. The one-month reprieve comes as residents across the state are struggling financially due to the coronavirus crisis.
Mayor Arthur Vigeant said Tuesday that bills will now be due June 1. Property tax bills were supposed to be due by May 1. Cities and towns across the state are pushing back tax deadlines, which state officials allowed under an emergency relief law passed soon after the outbreak began.
"The city of Marlborough continues to do everything allowed legally to support residents during these trying times created by the outbreak of COVID-19," Vigeant said in a statement. "I would like to thank our local and state partners for working together to make options like this extension available during a time when it is needed most."
