Marlborough Flu Clinic Comes As Influenza Season Starts

The Tuesday clinic will be for any resident 6 months or older, but pre-registration is required.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — As the 2021-22 influenza season begins — and with coronavirus still a factor — Marlborough is hosting a citywide flu clinic on Tuesday.

The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday. The clinic is open to any resident eligible for the shot — people as young as 6 months can get it — but requires finding an appointment ahead of time. Visit the city website to see if there are still slots available.

Flu season usually runs from October to May each year, and in a typical season millions of people contract the virus. For the second year, flu will be present at the same time as coronavirus.

As of this week, flu activity was rated as "minimal" by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, health officials are advising residents to get the flu shot as soon as possible since full protection usually begins about two weeks after the dose.

Marlborough's flu shot clinic will be held at the Council on Aging, 40 New St.
