Marlborough Has Most Food Available In MA Due To Bus Program
Marlborough is using school bus routes to drop off food to dozens of spots in the city during the coronavirus crisis.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The city of Marlborough and Marlborough Public Schools have created one of the largest food distribution systems in the state of Massachusetts during coronavirus, according to a map compiled by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
When schools closed in March due to coronavirus, the district began using elementary school bus routes to deliver food to families. The dozens of stops throughout the city now serve as food drop points, and vastly outnumber any other city or town in the state.
Anyone under age 18 in Marlborough can grab a meal from drop off locations, even students who don't attend public schools. Meals are delivered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the morning and at lunchtime. View the full MEMA map for details on times and locations.
