Marlborough, Here's Your Person of the Year
She got the most nominations for the 2014 person of the year. Let's find out more about her.

The voting started in early December and trailed into the first week of January. It was Marlborough Patch’s “Person of the Year - 2014” contest, which pulled in many nominations touting their favorite people in town, and why.
Clearly, no one got more nominations than Alexis Krieger Dascoli, making her Marlborough’s “Person of the Year.”
Dascoli, who is 31, is the owner of WearLex, an independent jewelry company with products that are exclusively handmade in the United States. Created by Dascoli, the collection offers an ever-evolving line of gemstones and wire, handcrafted jewelry.

“I am a full time graphic designer by day at the same job since high school,” said Dascoli. “I was hired as part of the co-op program at Assabet. I am the worldwide Graphic Designer for MacNeill Engineering/CHAMP right here in Marlborough. I am the only graphic designer at MacNeill Engineering, which is a worldwide company so I stay very busy. I run my two businesses during my lunch break, after hours and on the weekends.”
A sole proprietor, she designed her two businesses from the bottom up, from logos to websites and all of the marketing that surrounds them.
What She Loves About Marlborough: I love that I am so local to everything; I live on Beach Street, work on Locke Drive and have access to many stores, restaurants and towns. It’s the midpoint for everything.
Were you surprised that so many people nominated you? I was surprised to see how many people actually cared about me and was happy to know they notice my hustle to become a successful business owner.
What is it that motivated you, and what are you motivated to do? The fact that my mother, who was a single mother of three, has motivated me to become a successful woman. I try so do so much so that I can give back to her and my community. It makes me happy to see my mother happy. I am motivated to become a well-known designer/jewelry designer in and out of my community and to finish my degree in both graphic design and GG graduate gemologist.
What do you think makes you special/unique? I am an all-in-one business owner. I started my business in 2011 and have been juggling a full time job, school and both businesses all on my own. I researched and learned a lot about how to start your own business and went for it. I had all the tools and being a graphic designer came easy to me.
Her Businesses: AEK Designs focuses on any design jobs specializing in wedding invitation packages and WearLex is my own handmade, made in the U.S.A jewelry line.
How She Helps: Whenever there is a charity or fundraiser happening in Marlborough I am always willing to help and reach out to help in any Graphic Design way that I can. I have also donated WearLex jewelry items as well.
A Piece of Advice to Someone Who Wants to Make a Difference: Help where and whenever you can; the universe notices it and will repay you. Stay positive and positive will come.
