Marlborough Hires New Library Director With Cardello Retiring
After more than a decade in charge, Marlborough Public Library Director Margaret Cardello is retiring this week.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough Library Director Margaret Cardello will close the book on her long career this month, and the library board has selected a Newton library leader to take charge.
The Marlborough Library Board of Trustees recently selected Sara Belisle as the incoming director. Belisle, a Marlborough resident, has most recently worked as the supervisor of public services at the Newton Free Library.
Belisle earned a master’s degree in library science in 2014 from Simmons University, and began her library career at the Newton library in 2015 starting as a reference librarian, according to her resume. Belisle will take charge at a key time for the local library: a multiyear renovation of the Main Street building should be complete about midway through 2023.

“I’m so impressed by the terrific work the staff is doing in the library’s temporary location. It’s a great team, and I’m really looking forward to what we will be able to do when we move into our beautiful new building," Belisle said in a news release.
Cardello was picked to lead the Marlborough library in 2010 after a career with the former Central Massachusetts Regional Library System. She'll officially retire on Jan. 13.
