Marlborough HS Football Preview

The school-year season for the Panthers starts this Friday, led by coach Sean Mahoney and anchored by quarterback Brian Short.

Launching off its season with a win against Wachusett Regional on Aug. 29, the Marlborough Panthers varsity football squad hits its school-season schedule with a game on Friday, Sept. 11, against Milford at 7 p.m. in Milford.

Marlborough takes on Algonquin on Sept. 18 followed by Groton-Dunstable on Sept. 25. You can find the full schedule here.

Led by Coach Sean Mahoney, the team welcomes back offensive starters senior Brian Short (quarterback), senior Liam Shanahan, senior Joe Tirpak and Senior Andrew Rumney. The four are co-captains. Offensive starters also include juniors Manny Teo, Chuck Moreau and Own Cappadona.

The returning defensive players are senior Andrew Rumney, junior Joe Tirpak, senior Liam Shanahan, junior Manny Teo, junior Chuck Moreau, junior Owen Cappadona, junior Jake Dionne and junior Lake Goulet.

Coaches name promising junior newcomers Travus Baker, Sam Dias, Michael Foley, Chris Jean-Baptise, Andrew Keenan, Michael Phillips, Cameron Plank, Neiko Riley, Mackenzie Sylvester and Luis Vasquez. All are seniors. Promising juniors named by coaches include Joao Borges, Kody Linfield, Casey Mbala, Connor McCabe, Devin McHugh, Trevor Poor, Ryan Shaughnessy, Nate Stemple, Alec Turner and Connor Walker. Sophomores are Adrien Andrade-Cain, Jabrail Clark, Christopher Didonato, Evan Doherty, Hayden Ginnetti, Jonah Hintz, Ryan Mchler, Devin Raun, Kevin Short, Robbie Short, Souvenir Tachado, Max Whitmore and Alex Young.
