Marlborough Police Interrupt Car Prowlers In Downtown Area

Marlborough police arrested a 14-year-old and recovered some stolen items.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough police arrested a 14-year-old on Wednesday night after responding to a call about two people prowling cars in a downtown neighborhood.

An off-duty Marlborough officer called police when he saw two men trying to get into cars parked in driveways. Officers arrived at the scene near West Main and Gibbons streets to find two people walking down the street. When the two people saw police, they ran into the neighborhood.

After a short chase through backyards, police caught the 14-year-old. The second person got away. Police said they found the teen with items stolen from a home along Hayden Street.

The teen was charged with felony breaking and entering a car and two counts of receiving stolen property under $1,200. He also had an outstanding warrant for charges of receiving stolen property, failure to stop for police, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, and driving without a license.
