Marlborough’s 3,000-Foot Floating Boardwalk To Close: Here's When
The floating boardwalk, which spans more than half a mile across Lake Williams, is closing for the season.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The final days of the 2026 season are approaching for one of Marlborough’s most popular outdoor attractions.
The Lake Williams Boardwalk will close after Sunday, Nov. 1, the city announced on Thursday. City officials did not say when it will open again for the 2027 season.
The approximately 3,000-foot floating boardwalk reopened for the season in May. The structure, which was completed in May 2024, extends more than half a mile across Lake Williams and completes a roughly 2-mile trail system.

It was built using more than 500 dock sections with custom aluminum railings. The structure gently moves beneath visitors as they walk, creating a unique “bouncing” sensation while offering panoramic views of the surrounding water and wetlands.
The trail system encompasses 113 acres of land and water and has quickly become one of Marlborough’s signature outdoor destinations.
