Marlborough School Students Named National Merit Scholar
Framingham and Southborough students who goes to school in Marlborough were named as National Merit Scholars.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—The Advanced Math and Science Academy in Marlborough is full of brilliant students, but two students in particular have been named as National Merit Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation Thursday.
According to the foundation that awards the grants, the students are those “judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.”
Recipients are chosen by a committee of college admission officers and high school counselors. The winners are granted a $2,500 scholarship.

The winner(s) from Advanced Math and Science Academy:
Anton Zverev, from Framingham, planning to go into the field of chemical engineering

Alexandra Ryan, from Southborough, planning to go to American Musical Theatre Academy
Mahmood Alam from Shrewsbury also received a "special" National Merit Scholarship of $1,000 that is sponsored by Marsh & McLennan Companies. Alam plans to study Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The number of winners in Massachusetts- as in each state - is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.
