Marlborough Superintendent Stepping Down For Job In NH

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough Superintendent Michael Bergeron announced his resignation at Tuesday's School Committee meeting, saying he plans to take a job at a New Hampshire gaming company.

Bergeron said he'll remain as superintendent until the end of the 2021-22 school year in June. Bergeron will then move to Tabletop Tycoon, a Manchester, NH, publisher of tabletop games, the Community Advocate reported.

The superintendent grew emotional while announcing his resignation at Tuesday's meeting.

"My focus is on the next steps to support the school community and provide as smooth a transition to the next superintendent as I can," he said. "You guys have been wonderful to me, and I want to thank you for that."

Bergeron began his time with Marlborough Public Schools in early 2014 serving as finance director. He became the assistant superintendent of finance and operations in 2017 before being hired as superintendent in July 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile.

"I love the teachers, I love the staff, I'm sorry that I'm leaving, but this is in the best interest of me and my family," he said in closing.
