Marlborough Woman Awarded For Work At McDonald's
The fast-food chain announced the Ray Kroc Awardees this week. The honor goes to about 1% of McDonald's employees.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The manager of a Marlborough McDonald's is one of the fast-food chain's most elite employees.
Regia Pieper, general manager of the Maple Street McDonald's restaurant, this week received a Ray Kroc Award, according to the Boston Business Journal. Only about 400 employees get the award each year, representing about 1 percent of the chain's workforce.
The annual award began in 1999, and winners get a cash prize and a trip to the McDonald's headquarters near Chicago for a gala.

Ray Kroc is credited with turning McDonald's into a global business. While working as a salesman in the 1950s, Kroc discovered the first McDonald's restaurant in San Bernardino, Calif. He later purchased the restaurant and began franchising the name and food. There are now close to 40,000 locations around the world — including two in Marlborough.
