Marlborough's First Recreational Marijuana Shop To Open Sunday
Garden Remedies will be the second recreational dispensary to open in the MetroWest.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough's first recreational marijuana dispensary is set to open on Sunday. Garden Remedies received final approval to commence adult use retail operations from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. The dispensary plans on seeing customers by walk-in on Sunday and is not requiring appointments.
Opening day hours for the new dispensary will be from noon until 5 p.m. Garden Remedies pulled papers to also offer medical marijuana but is still waiting for regulatory approval. Unlike some other recreational dispensaries in the state (Brookline's NETA, Leicester's Cultivate) Garden Remedies will have an onsite parking lot for adult-use customers. NETA only offers onsite parking to medical marijuana patients and Cultivate offers and off-site lot with shuttle service. A police detail officer will direct traffic in and out of the 200 space parking lot located next to the dispensary.
The Fitchburg based company had a special permit approved by city councilors in November for the dispensary. The 3,100-square-foot building sits in one of the city's two adult-use and medical marijuana regulated zones. The company has a cultivation and processing facility in Fitchburg and two other dispensaries, one in Melrose and one in Newton. The Melrose location is a medical marijuana dispensary while the Newton location just started offering recreational marijuana alongside it's medical marijuana, last month.

“We are thrilled to continue our growth and further expand access to safe, legal, and natural cannabis for all adults over age 21 in Massachusetts,” said Dr. Karen Munkacy, Founder, President and CEO, Garden Remedies, Inc. “It has been a pleasure working with everyone in Marlborough to bring this vision to life, from Mayor Arthur Vigeant and the City Council, to the chief of police and the fire department.
