Marlborough's (Postponed) Heritage Festival Coming Up Later This Month

You didn't miss it, because it was postponed.

The annual Heritage Festival was supposed to take place the weekend of Oct. 2-4, but the weather didn’t cooperate. That means if you think you missed it, you didn’t. It’s happening Oct. 23-25.

Marlborough’s Heritage Festival blossomed from a one-day, Main Street celebration into a weekend of events for audiences of all ages held throughout downtown. This year marks the 20th annual event.

The festivities kick off Friday night carnival on South Bolton Street, which is open all day Saturday until 10 p.m, as well as a large part of the day on Sudany.

Noontime Saturday kicks off the festival’s first Oktoberfest, held in the upper parking deck behind City Hall. This first Oktoberfest is sponsored by Marlborough’s own RKG Financial.

Sunday, it’s the traditional festival, which includes the chili and chowder challenge, a farmer’s market, exhibit by the Historical Society, children’s activities and a lot more.

The popular Chili & Chowder Challenges return this year with local restaurants and caterers battling it out to win top honors by a panel of judges and participating visitors. It begins at 12:30 p.m. and those wishing to taste and vote for their favorites can purchase tickets for $5 per person.

Runners and spectators should arrive early for the Marlborough Main Street Mile Road Race on Sunday, a one mile race before the festival that starts at the corner of Broad and Lincoln Streets.
