MetroWest companies filled the streets for the 3rd annual United
$30,000 raised for community programs

Hundreds of runners from 40 local companies participated in the MetroWest’s largest office party last week, where staff from local businesses worked together to complete a common goal: make it to the finish line.
Employees laced up their sneakers to take part in the great team building opportunity with colleagues and friends, raising $30,000 along the way to help fund United Way of Tri-County programs and services.
The fastest team and proud winners of the MetroWest Cup came from Intel in Hudson with Sun Life Financial coming in at a very close 2nd. The top male and female runners were Andrew Lynch from IPG Photonics and Sarah Day of St. Mary’s Credit Union, both in Marlborough. Paul Mina, President and CEO of the United Way also presented the Wellness Award to Debra Camerato from Philips Lifeline of Framingham for her work changing lives for good within and beyond her organization, and the largest team award went to Avecia of Milford with 42 runners in their group.

Attendees gathered at the start/finish line of the Pinefield Shopping Center in Framingham to partake in an after-race party that included music, ice-cold beer from Exhibit “A” Brewers in Framingham who generously donated 50% of each beer sold back to the United Way. Participants and volunteers celebrated the beautiful spring evening together after the race by strengthening work relationships while raising money that goes back to the community through United Way’s two hot meal programs, three food pantries, early literacy program, and statewide Suicide Prevention/Mental Health Line.

• Chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A
• Pizza from Sodexho at Framingham State University
• Delicious appetizers from Red Heat Tavern in Westborough
• Homemade ice cream from Marlborough’s Trombetta’s Farm
• Cookies from the Framingham Baking Company
• And pulled pork sandwiches and popcorn were also free to runners and volunteers
