Mom of Toddler Who Died in Foster Care Dies of Suspected Drug Overdose

A Marlborough woman whose young daughter famously died in foster care last month died of a drug overdose Wednesday, police announced.
Jessica Conway, 27, was found unresponsive in a Worcester apartment Wednesday afternoon. She was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Conway was the mother of 2-year-old Avalena Conway-Coxon, who died while in foster care last month. The child was found unresponsive at an apartment complex in Auburn on Aug. 15. Authorities have not yet released a cause of death for the toddler.

While autopsy and toxicology results are still pending for Conway, evidence in the apartment and testimony from family members point toward a drug overdose, police announced.
