Out-of-State Worker Falls To Death In Marlborough
A construction worker from Arkansas fell nearly 50 feet to his death while worker in Marlborough on Sunday.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—A 30-year-old construction worker from Arkansas fell 50 feet to his death while working a job in Marlborough over the weekend.
According to several media reports, the man was building ice rinks at the New England Sports Center on Donald Lynch Boulevard when he fell from an elevated beam. He worked for Colorado-Springs based Alpha Steel Erectors.
The death prompted a statement from the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety & Health indicating how it "underscores how dangerous fall hazards are. It also serves as a tragic reminder that every employer has the responsibility for creating a worksite free of deadly fall risks for their workers so that events like this no longer take place"

According to the 2017 MassCOSH report called Dying for Work in Massachusetts, falls, slips, and trips were the second most common cause of fatal workplace injuries in the state in 2016. That year, 17 workers died from falls, slips, and trips on the job, leading to shattered families and devastated loved ones. A total of 62 workers died from workplace injuries in 2016.
