PHOTOS: Immaculate Conception Students Join Read Across America

MARLBOROUGH, MA- Students at Immaculate Conception school in Marlborough joined in on the nation wide "Read Across America" event.

The event was held on March 2, which happened to be the same day as Dr. Seuss' birthday, giving the students a perfect theme and reading material. Students in grades K-2 participated in the event.

The Pre-K class took part by reading “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” followed by a fish painting activity. First graders also participated in the festivities by reading “The Lorax” and creating their own Lorax mustaches, while the second graders read “Daisy-Head Mayzie” and made their own daisy-head hats. The school said there is no question of the effect Read Across America has on children considering the amount of excitement and engagement it receives. "Our students at Immaculate Conception in Marlborough thoroughly enjoyed their involvement in Read Across America and cannot wait for what next year’s installment has in store for them," a spokesperson for Immaculate Conception said.
