River's Edge Community Band presents Spring Concert

The River’s Edge Arts Alliance cordially invites you to our Scheherazade...A Tale of Compassion band concert, featuring the River’s Edge Community Band on Sunday, March 29th at 3pm in the Hudson High School Auditorium.
Scheherazade, Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical re-telling of the legendary “A Thousand and One Nights,” will be the featured work at the Winter Concert of the River’s Edge Community Band. Continuing the River’s Edge Arts Alliance Season of Compassion theme, conductor/music director, David Bailey has chosen the major work, together with selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Sousa’s Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, as ways in which “Compassion” may be represented in music.
Also highlighted on the program will be solos with the band by the winners of this year’s Young Artist Competition: First-place winner, Andrew Doherty Munro, clarinetist, will perform Weber’s Concertino and Second-place, Thaya Zalewski, clarinetist will play Canticle by James Curnow. The band also welcomes guest artists harpist, Judy Ross and Woody Carpinella, banjo.

The River’s Edge Community Band, led by David W. Bailey, explores and performs a wide variety of entertaining music, including traditional and original compositions for band, orchestral transcriptions, marches, jazz, popular and Broadway music. The concert will take place on Sunday, March 29th at 3pm at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham Street Hudson. Tickets for Non-Members: Adults $12, Student/Senior $10, Child Under 10 $8. Tickets for Members: Adults $10, Student/Senior $8, Child Under 10 $6. Tickets can be purchased at our website upwitharts.org.
