Why this type of business? I always had a special connection with jewelry since I was a kid. My mother has always worn and loved jewelry, and my grandmother, who lives in Frankfurt, Germany, used to bring back pieces of jewelry for me from her travels around the world. When I was older, I began selling some of my jewelry creations and later decided to start my own business.

What do you like best about it? That I can control the quality unlike mass produced jewelry. I have my hands on each and every piece from start to finish. From sketching out new designs, to picking out gemstones and materials to hand making each piece, to packaging and then to the post office.

Biggest struggle? Getting WearLex noticed. I do as much as I can on social media and at events that I pop up at but as a small business its hard to let the world know who WearLex is without paying top dollar for advertising. I know I have amazing pieces; I want everyone to know that, too.

What do you see for the future? I see WearLex as everyones go to for one of a kind, handmade jewelry that is beautiful and priced just right. I wouldn't mind seeing WearLex is stores, too.

Politics and business....how does government affect your business? Everyone, including government, needs to push small businesses not only on one “Small Business Saturday,” but all the time.

Name another local business you’d send customers to: Ashley Nardello is the owner and photographer of Cleopatra Photography. I love helping other local women in business and girl bosses. I always hire Ashley for WearLex photoshoots. She’s amazing, and you can see some of her work on WearLex.com.
