MARLBOROUGH, MA—It's easy to find a charity. Throw a dart and you'll hit some group, somewhere, raising money for some cause. But perhaps you want to keep it truly local, and help the neighbors around you or the organizations that operate right in your community.
The season of giving is just around the corner. As our jack o'lanterns start to rot on the front steps, thoughts of Thanksgiving, winter, helping, kicks in to our thoughts.
Here is a list of five nonprofit organizations operating or helping in Marlborough. Learn more about them.

- Special Olympics Massachusetts: Through successful experiences in sports, Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes gain confidence and build positive self-images, which they take with them into their homes, classrooms, jobs and communities.
- United Way of Tri-County: The United Way of Tri-County is one of 1340 locally operated and controlled United Way organizations in America. Today it provides service to thousands of our neighbors and friends in 34 communities throughout Norfolk, Middlesex and Worcester Counties.
- SADD: nonprofit organization headquartered in Marlborough that supports a national network by equipping SADD chapters with scientific-based, peer-to-peer educational trainings, programs & events, awareness campaigns and leadership development opportunities.
- Marlborough Brigham Family Trust: Marlborough nonprofits seeking financial support for programs and activities that directly benefit the Marlborough community can apply for up to $6,000 for programs and activities.
- Cat Rescue of Marlborough and Hudson:MAAS was founded in 2002 in response to the feral and homeless cat population in Marlborough, Hudson and surrounding towns. MAAS began a trap, neuter, return (TNR) program for these cats in 2002, with feeding stations where the cats are fed daily.
