Starbucks Plans New Marlborough Location

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A third Starbucks may soon open in Marlborough, according to plans submitted to the City Council.

The new location would be located in a shopping plaza at 661 Boston Post Road East. The 2,250-square-foot Starbucks would be part of a larger change at the plaza that would also add a new bank. Both businesses would have drive-thru service, according to plans.

On top of the drive-thru additions, the plaza would also add about 20 new parking spots, and would get pedestrian and bicycle improvements. The plaza is located in the Wayside Zoning District, which has been targeted for a larger overhaul to make the area most pedestrian and bike-friendly.

Concord-based Aubuchon Realty Co. purchased the shopping plaza in June. The plaza contains a dentist office, an H&R Block and several other businesses. Those would remain unchanged with the addition of the Starbucks and bank, according to plans.

The two other Marlborough Starbucks locations are in the downtown area along Route 85, and at the Target — which is just behind the shopping plaza where the new coffee shop would be located.

The Marlborough City Council will discuss the plans at a meeting scheduled for Monday night.
