State Police Arrest Fugitive in Marlborough for Fifth OUI

Police arrested a fugitive from Connecticut in Marlborough.

A Connecticut man is facing OUI, and now running from the law, charges after Massachusetts State Police found him in Marlborough on Friday.

Around 10:20 a.m., state police got a report of an erratic driver heading on Route 290 eastbound in Worcester. A black jeep with heavy front-end damage was reportedly swerving across all lanes dangerously and nearly striking other vehicles.

As the Jeep neared road construction in the left travel lane, the driver abruptly moved to the right.

Two troopers working the detail, Sergeant David Prussman and Trooper Thomas Tobin, slowed traffic and motioned the driver to pull over while Trooper Richard Frigon signaled the driver from behind with his cruiser’s emergency lights and siren.

The driver, 50-year-old Douglas Murphy of New Milford, Connecticut, eventually pulled into the breakdown lane.

Murphy was arrested on the following charges:

1. OUI Liquor, Fifth Offense
2. OUI Drugs
3. Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
4. Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
5. Marked Lanes Violation
6. Fugitive from Justice on a Court Warrant

The Fugitive from Justice Warrant stems from the fact that Murphy had three outstanding warrants out of New Milford, Connecticut, said police.
