This week, I discovered that angels do exist. They appeared as strangers, as rescuers, as veterinarians, and as foster parents.
Nova was found collapsed on someone's front lawn after being lost for over 30 days. She had no food source and, as a result, she's emaciated and in need of a tremendous amount of medical care. The wonderful people at Granite State Dog Recovery stepped in and saved this girl from certain death. They immediately got her to a vet and treatment began to save her life. GSDR set up a fundraiser for Nova to help cover the cost of her care and thanks to many wonderful strangers, donations started pouring in.
The next step was to secure a home for this girl. A place where she could receive around the clock care and plenty of hugs and kisses. Granite State Dog Recovery agreed that our rescue would be able to find her the perfect home where her needs would be met and where her medical care could continue. We, at The Boxer Rescue, knew just the person. I don't want to use her name without permission, so I'll just call her "angel" for now. "Angel" and her husband have opened their hearts and home to Nova. She needs to eat very small meals every two hours and needs to be carried outside every 4 hours to try and use the bathroom. Her body has suffered such trauma, so simply going to the bathroom is a huge accomplishment for Nova. She most recently was taken back to the vet for a plasma transfusion which has helped to make her feel a little better.
Nova is not out of the woods by any means. Each day, each hour brings new challenges. Today has been a good day. She was able to lay outside on her bed, and enjoy the passing boats, the sound of loons, and the waves crashing in the distance. She's learning to trust again. She is our Super Nova.
Thank you, to all the angels who have helped get this girl to where she is today. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes. A very special thank you to her foster angel. We don't know what the future holds for Nova, but we hope it's one full of life and love. She certainly deserves it.
