Support for those That Heal the Invisible Wounds of War

Donating to the Home Base Program for Veterans and Their Families

A contingent of Masons from Marlborough’s United Brethren Lodge visited the Boston headquarters of the Home Base Veteran and Family Care Program to donate $4000 raised by the Lodge's annual Main Street Classic Car Show. The program, a partnership between the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital, provides free clinical programs in counseling and wellness to service members and their families to help "heal the invisible wounds of war." The program was founded in 2009 and was initially open only to post-911 veterans, but is now also serving Vietnam veterans as well. The United Brethren donation comes at a particularly useful time, as the organization, currently spread over several locations in Boston, is consolidating later this year in a new facility in Charlestown within site of the USS Constitution. United Brethren plans to increase its donation to the Program after this year's 10th anniversary car show on June 3, which hopes to attract a national corporate underwriter. Accepting the check from the UB Brothers were Veteran Outreach Coordinators Armand Hunter (third from right) and Patrick Smith (far right). The Lodge members, left to right, are David Evans-Brown, Richard Pastore, Ken Urato, Bob Archibald and Dan Consoletti.
