Sweats for Vets Makes Final Push

With three days to Christmas, local non-profit seeks your support.

With an estimated 600 veterans homeless in New England, Sweats for Vets asks for your support this Christmas season. Sweats for Vets, a non-profit from Marlborough, conducts a annual campaign of raising Boston team sweatshirts for the homeless veterans in Massachusetts.

Supported by the Marlborough Veteran’s Council, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Italian American Club, the AMVETs and numerous other contributors, Sweats for Vets hopes to raise 500 sweatshirts by Christmas morning 2014. Mark Vital, President of Sweats for Vets, claims to need this many in order to offer a new sweatshirt to all the homeless veterans in Worcester and Boston. “Every single donation means a lot to our veterans,” states Vital.

Donations can be dropped off up until Christmas Eve at the Italian American Club (Neal Street) in Marlborough, Finnegan’s Pub (South Street) in Hudson and Julio’s Liquors (Lyman Street) in Westboro. Vital will even pick them up from you by emailing him at sweats4vets@yahoo.com.
