MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough Democratic City Committee (MDCC) will hold its third charity drive in 2021 this month, seeking a range of items from food staples to items for children.

The MDCC previously held food drives over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend and again in March. Organizers say there continues to be a need to support residents hurt by the pandemic.

"Unfortunately, the need to step up for the less fortunate in our community has not lessened as our economy has somewhat improved," MDCC Chairman Dan Caruso said in a news release. "So we will continue to conduct these quarterly drives for items that our neighbors need."

All items donated during the drive will go to the Marlborough Community Cupboard. The event will take place on Sept. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Navin Arena, 451 Bolton St.

The MDCC is specifically seeking: items for children, including diapers and wipes; basics like oil, sugar, spices and condiments; baking goods; canned or jarred goods like peanut butter, soup, vegetables, beans and pre-cooked pasta; cereal and snacks.
