Thousands Lose Power in Marlborough: National Grid Tries to Restore

Downed wires are the cause of a major power outage in Marlborough on Christmas Eve morning.

It’s never a great time to lose power, but the morning of Christmas Eve wouldn’t be a top choice for most folks.

At 10:45 a.m., more than 200 customers are without power in Marlborough after an incident that left more than 2,000 without it on Thursday morning.

According to National Grid’s outage map, 261 of the 18,406 customers in Marlborough still have no power.

Shortly before 7 a.m., online alerts reported that live wires were down on Lincoln Street at Washington Street, and a small fire had erupted at the base of a pole there.
