Tips & Tricks for President's Day Shoppers

To get the most bang for your buck this holiday, BBB offers the following tips for those who are ready to take on President's Day sales.

President’s Day is less than a week away, but the holiday deals offered by businesses across the country may have already started. Better Business Bureau Serving Eastern MA, ME, RI, & VT (BBB) is letting consumers know what to expect this President’s Day for sales and special offers and how to make sure they are getting the best deals.

“Savvy shoppers should plan ahead and stay mindful of their budget,” said Paula Fleming, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer for the local BBB. “By developing a plan in advance and being aware of sales and discounts, consumers are more likely to have a successful and stress-free experience.”

According to BBB Scam Tracker, holiday’s are a popular time for scams - with more than 70 holiday-related cases reported just in the past year.

Search for sales ahead of time. Check out websites and online advertisements for specific discounts being offered for Presidents’ Day. Comparison shop online and find which retailers are offering the best price for the item you are looking for.

Do your reading. Make sure you read and understand the return policy. Keep in mind that if you are giving the purchase as a gift they may not be able to return it.

Check with BBB. If the price sounds too good to be true or if you are sceptical of a possible scam, look up the business’s Business Profile and Customer Reviews on bbb.org, or shop with an Accredited Business near you to ensure you are dealing with a business you can trust.

Share your experience. If you’ve had a good or bad experience with a business, we want to hear about it! Submit a customer review with us at bbb.org/boston/customer-reviews to help fellow consumers make their purchasing decisions.
